Tessera is a booking app for a studio with a hard capacity, and it is built on one sentence: a spot is either used or given back in time. What costs a studio money is never the empty timetable — it is the spot that dies, because someone booked and did not come, or cancelled at 06:40 for a 07:00 class while a waiting list sat there unaware. So a booking here has a life, not a boolean. Booked becomes attended, or no-show, or cancelled early, or cancelled late, and the app says which one happened and what it cost. The cut-off is a number the studio sets, and the difference between the last two states is exactly that number. A credit is the unit: booking spends one, an early cancellation returns it, a late cancellation or a no-show keeps it. The balance on the screen is the sum of the ledger, never a typed figure — and every line says why it moved. The waiting list moves by itself. Release a spot before the cut-off and the first person waiting is promoted in the same operation, charged then and not before, with a ledger line to show for it. A list that needs a human to work it is a list nobody joins twice. The screen this app exists for is not the timetable — it is the door roster: who is coming, who is waiting in order, and one tap per person to mark attended or no-show, usable one-handed on a phone at the door. And once a few weeks of that exist, the timetable review reads them: it composes the last weeks of occurrences into a table and asks the assistant what to change. It may only reason about what is in the table, it has to name the class, the day and the time of anything it recommends, and when the table is too thin it says so instead of guessing. The whole composed instruction is shown before the run, character count and all, and every layer of it is editable in the administration.
