Lovable vs Base44

Both turn a conversation into a web app. What sets them apart is what happens next: code, app stores, billing and support.

The short verdict

Pick Lovable when you are building a web SaaS, want the code in your own repository from day one, and expect to hand the project to a developer at some point. The backend runs on Supabase's open-source foundation, and Git sync is available even on the free plan.

Pick Base44 when you also want the app in the App Store and Google Play without leaving the platform, when you are building an internal tool, or when you would rather work in a language other than English. The backend comes ready, and common services such as email and AI are built in.

Both are good products. Where the app needs to end up is what decides it.

One piece of context: Wix has owned Base44 since June 2025, and the announcement says it stays a separate product.

If you can't code

On both, you describe the app and get screens, a database and sign-in. The difference is friction.

Base44 hands you more out of the box. Email, image generation and AI calls work inside your app without signing up for another service, and they are paid from integration credits. Its interface also runs in several languages, Portuguese and Spanish among them.

Lovable leans on its community: the Discord is open to every plan and team members take part. Its chat mode, which plans without touching the app, has its own daily allowance, separate from build credits.

If you have never written code, Base44 has fewer moving parts at the start.

If you are building a SaaS

Lovable has the edge here. The database is Postgres on Supabase's foundation, with a SQL editor and readable access policies. You can move the backend to a Supabase project you own, and the docs explain how to host elsewhere. Git sync works on every plan, so a developer can join the project without asking for an export.

Base44 works for SaaS too, with Stripe and with Base44 Payments powered by Wix. Its data layer is NoSQL and backend functions start on the Builder plan. For a product that will grow with a technical team, Lovable's path is shorter.

What you really pay

The entry table favors Base44 by a small margin. The real bill depends on the unit.

On Lovable, one balance pays for building, hosting the backend and the AI inside your published app. A message in Plan mode costs 1 credit; in Build mode the cost depends on the work done. Unused monthly credits roll over while the subscription is active. Pro and Business also get 5 build credits a day, and Free, Pro and Business get 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits a month.

On Base44, building spends message credits, and the cost also varies with the work and the model you pick. The live app spends integration credits: email, images, AI calls, agents. In an app that leans on those services, the second unit runs out first.

Two numbers change the decision. If you need exportable code or the app stores, the floor on Base44 is Builder, at US$ 40 a month yearly or US$ 50 monthly. On Lovable, code download comes with the US$ 25 Pro plan. And on both, the biggest cost is rework: every request you redo is billed again.

Run the same request on both. The pricing comparison walks through the method.

Code and leaving

Both let you leave with your code.

Lovable syncs both ways with GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on any plan. Downloading the project directly and editing code inside the platform need Pro.

Base44 also syncs both ways with GitHub, and offers ZIP export. Both need Builder.

The harder part of any move is the platform setup: domain, keys for outside services and automations. Data comes out through export on both.

Support and language

On Lovable's free plan you get the docs, the docs assistant and Discord. Paid plans add email support, with a first reply within 24 hours, mostly on weekdays. The team does not debug your project's code; for that, the docs tell you to ask Lovable in the chat. The docs do not say which languages support covers.

On Base44, the route is docs, Discord and tickets. Elite includes premium support. The docs are explicit that the human team works in English only.

If you need support in a language other than English, neither documents it today.

When neither fits

If you want to pay in Brazilian reais, talk to a person on the team without leaving the builder, or keep the app stores and support in one place, it is worth looking further. Fabapp (that is us) bills in reais in Brazil, has a chat with the team inside the builder, and publishes to the App Store and Google Play from the Builder plan. It is the company that has run Fábrica de Aplicativos since 2011. For other options, see the Lovable alternatives and the Base44 alternatives.

A ready request to build your own

Build an app for a pet shop with grooming. Owners register their pets with species, breed, size and notes; services priced by size; the owner books a bath, a haircut or both in an open slot, choosing pickup and drop-off when they want it; a push notification when the pet is ready; a monthly package of 4 baths paid by card or a local payment method; each groomer sees only their own schedule for the day; service history per pet; and an admin dashboard only I can see with this week's appointments, active packages and revenue.

Free to start. The first version arrives in a few minutes and you refine it by chatting.

Frequently asked questions

Lovable or Base44, which is better if I can't code?
Both work through a conversation and neither needs code. Base44 ships email, image generation and AI calls ready for your app to use, and its interface runs in several languages. Lovable has a Discord open to every plan with team members taking part, which helps when you get stuck.
Which one is cheaper?
Base44, at the entry level. Starter costs US$ 20 a month billed monthly or US$ 16 billed yearly, against US$ 25 and US$ 21 for Lovable Pro, as of October 6, 2026. The billing units differ, though, so the real cost only shows when you run the same request on both.
Which one publishes to the App Store and Google Play?
Base44, from the Builder plan up. It generates the IPA and AAB files for an app that opens your web app inside a native shell, and you submit them from your own developer accounts. Lovable publishes to the web only; its docs point to a PWA or a Capacitor wrapper built outside Lovable.
Can I export the code?
On both. Lovable syncs with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket on every plan, Free included, and downloading the code needs Pro. On Base44, GitHub sync and ZIP export both need Builder or higher.
Which one offers support in Portuguese?
Neither documents human support in Portuguese. Base44 says its support team works in English only, even though the platform and the AI chat run in Portuguese. Lovable offers email support on paid plans and does not state which languages it covers.
