Background images and videos

A piece can have backgrounds generated by the AI (images or videos), cutouts of your products and your own videos. Each generated media item has a fixed price, shown first, and goes back to your balance if it fails.

Costs credits: the steps that ask the AI to build consume AI credits.

What the piece generates on its own

When it builds the piece, Motion already asks for some media without you clicking anything:

  • one background image per scene;
  • a product cutout for the items that appear cut out.

There is a cap on this automatic media, and it is already included in the "up to" on the Generate piece button. Past the cap, each extra media item asks for confirmation.

While the media gets ready, the piece plays with placeholder backgrounds in their place, and a notice in the editor shows the progress. You can open and edit the piece in the meantime: whatever is missing shows up on its own.

Generating media for a scene

On the Media tab, with the scene selected, you find that scene's media and the Generate for this scene button. Every generation shows the price in a confirmation before it starts.

Media that appears in a new version (after a chat adjustment, an edit to the fields or a restore) also asks for confirmation. A background the adjustment kept is not charged again.

Generated background video

In Background video…, the AI generates a clip that sits behind the text, with no sound.

  • What the video shows comes already written from the scene's text and the brand's colors. You can change it.
  • The Model offers options for short scenes and for longer ones, with one recommended.
  • The price is per whole second of clip. The shortest clip is 5 seconds, and in a long scene the clip repeats.

Every background video asks for confirmation. Each piece includes an allowance of generated video seconds. Past it, Motion warns you ("Video beyond this piece's allowance") and only generates if you confirm again.

Using a video of yours

Use a video of yours replaces the scene's background with a video you already have, at no cost.

  • MP4, MOV or WebM formats, up to 400 MB;
  • Motion uses up to 60 seconds of the video, without the sound;
  • uploaded videos are kept in the brand, to use in other scenes and pieces.

After choosing, set the Framing (top, center or bottom), how much to Darken it so the text stays readable and at which second the video starts. Use in this scene applies it.

When a media item does not come out

Its spot keeps the placeholder background, the credits come back, and the notice in the editor offers See and try again.

Up to three media items per account are generated at the same time. If you ask for a fourth, Motion asks you to wait for one to finish.

Exporting with media still pending

If media is still being generated when you export, Motion warns you. You can wait or choose Export anyway, and the file comes out with the placeholder background in place of what was missing.
