Writing the request, styles and reference

Everything the Create piece screen asks for, field by field: the request text, the attachments, the style, a reference video, the format, the length and the AI model.

Costs credits: the steps that ask the AI to build consume AI credits.

The request

One or two sentences do the job. What helps Motion most is knowing three things:

  1. what you are promoting;
  2. until when it is valid, if there is a deadline;
  3. what people should do after seeing it: order on WhatsApp, book, drop by the shop.
New opening hours from this week: show the days and times and invite people to drop by the shop.

The examples below the field (Deal of the week, New opening hours, Featured product) fill in the request for you to adapt.

To show products with a price, tick them in What to show in the piece instead of typing the price in the request. That way the price comes from your records and matches your shop. You can choose up to 10 items.

Attachments

Attach images or files takes product photos, a logo, visual references or a brief, up to 10 attachments. If an attachment cannot be read, Motion tells you which one, asks you to remove it or send it in another format (PNG, JPG or PDF), and nothing is charged.

Style

Style offers ten named looks, each with its own recipe for colors, typography, pace and transitions:

Style What it looks like
Swiss kinetic modular grid, one typeface, one signal colour
Dark keynote near-black stage, one accent, sweeping light
Flat explainer flat shapes that spring into place
Risograph spot inks, misregistered plates and halftone
Live interface the product's screen in action, as the hero
HUD terminal mono grids, brackets and rolling numbers
Paper cut-out layered paper cut-outs in stop-motion
VHS retro tape grain, scanlines and neon
Vertical captions bold 9:16 captions for sound-off viewing
Serif editorial tall serif, generous margins, slow pushes

If none catches your eye, leave it on Let Motion choose: the style comes from the request and the brand.

Style reference: a video to follow

Saw a video you liked? In Style reference, paste the link to a Reels, TikTok, YouTube video or a video file (.mp4, .mov, .webm), or use Upload video. The video can be up to 90 seconds and 150 MB, and the link has to be public.

Motion reads only the style: colors, lettering, pace and cuts. It never copies the text, the logo or the people in the video. The reading takes about a minute, and you can keep writing the request in the meantime.

When it finishes, a summary appears with the palette, the typography, the pace and groups of traits (Transitions, Motion, Framing, Texture, Mood and Avoid). Tap a trait to leave it out.

The reading has a fixed price, shown on the button and charged when it starts. If the video cannot be read, the credits come back.

Format and length

Format For
9:16 Reels, Status and TikTok
4:5 vertical feed
1:1 feed
16:9 YouTube and TV

A video can last from 3 to 120 seconds. Above 60 seconds, only 9:16 and 16:9 are available, because the feed is a place for short videos. The build price changes with the length.

In Also make in you tick other formats for the same piece. They come out as extra files in the export, each with its own price. These extra formats are chosen here, when you create the piece.

AI model

The AI model field picks who builds the piece. Later chat adjustments use the same model.

Option What to expect
Best quality richer direction and sharper copy; takes longer
Best balance good direction, good copy and ready in about a minute (recommended)
Fastest ready in seconds, with more basic direction
Cheapest lowest cost, with more basic direction

The options you see depend on your plan. When a piece weighs on your balance, Motion warns you: moderate usage from 4% of the month's credits in one piece, high from 10%. See usage by model shows the average spend of each combination before you decide.
